Bergman’s Iselin Facility Enrolled in GSH’s Energy Plus Program Receives Energy Star
Pine Brook, N.J. (April 9, 2010) – GSH Group, Inc., an international facilities and energy management provider throughout the United States and Europe, announced that Bergman Real Estate Group’s corporate office building, located at 555 Route One South in Iselin, NJ, has achieved an Energy Star while being enrolled in GSH Group’s Energy Plus program.
GSH began its Energy Plus program at Bergman in November 2008 carrying out several energy conservation projects including the installation of a building management system and continuous monitoring and adjustments to the mechanical equipment. Since contract start date, the facility thus far has a total of 492,928 kWh of energy savings, which is more than twenty percent lower than baseline levels, and represents a savings of 299 tons of carbon dioxide emissions.
The property received an Energy Star rating of 83 out of 100, meaning that the facility is operating more efficiently than 83% of similar buildings. In order to be eligible for the Energy Star, the facility must receive a ranking of 75 or higher. Prior to GSH’s program, the facility was ranking 57.
Bergman moved into the 85,000 square foot Woodbridge Towers in Iselin in 2002 after an increase in company size. Located across the Woodbridge Center Mall, it is close in distance to both the Garden State Parkway and New Jersey Turnpike.
According to the Energy Star website, Energy Star was created through both the Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Energy to help protect the environment by emphasizing energy efficiency, both in products and practices. Energy Star’s energy management program for businesses has already been used for over 96,000 buildings across the United States, the top of which are awarded the Energy Star by the Environmental Protection Agency.
The facility will be presented with the Energy Star plaque and will be included in Energy Star’s online registry.
“We are very appreciative of both the GSH team and our onsite engineering staff for their efforts, and working together in order to get this award,” said Steven Bergman, Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Bergman Real Estate Group. “We will continue to take the proper steps necessary in order to conserve energy and increase our environmental sensitivity at other Bergman properties.”
“Having an Energy Star further forges the path for a bright future for Bergman. We at GSH were pleased to help them achieve this award,” said Frankie McDonald, Assistant Vice President of GSH Group.
