Michael L. Brody
Michael brings 33 years of capital markets expertise to Bergman Real Estate Group’s investment activities. In 2013, Michael partnered with Bergman to form Garden State Office Properties (“GSOP”) to help expand the firm’s investment strategy of buying undervalued office buildings. To date, the GSOP venture has closed four (4) acquisitions totaling 620,000 SF and has sold three buildings within 18 months.
Michael is currently a senior advisor to Blackstone Real Estate Group, responsible for the asset management of $1B of debt investments and another $1B of equity investments in Latin America. Michael is also a Director/Board Member of Granite Real Estate Investment Trust, a $2.5B Canadian REIT with 94 properties comprising 30M SF.
Michael’s vast experience includes former positions as President & COO of Loeb Partners Realty; Board Member of Rock U.S. Holdings, Inc; Managing Director, Head of CMBS Origination for Merrill Lynch; and Managing Director at Nomura Securities/Capital Company of America.
Michael holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Columbia University Business School (1994) and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Cornell University (1983).
