The Houston Acquisition Program (1988 - 1995): Starting in 1988, Bergman created a joint venture with one financial partner and in just three years, assembled a $65,000,000 portfolio in Houston, Texas (see below), which consisted of 3,500 apartment units in 10 garden apartment properties, and 300,000 square feet in two (2) class A office buildings. Bergman functioned as the General Partner with the responsibility for identifying, acquiring, and financing the properties and providing the on-going asset management for the portfolio. In 1995 Bergman sold its general partnership interests in the portfolio to its financial partner as part of that partner's program to merge other real estate assets to create a self-managed public company.
